This winner of the Palme D'Or at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival saw the inside of very few American theaters, but should make a nice splash on DVD.  Wind follows the lives of two Irish brothers in the early 20th century, torn apart by political differences surrounding the anti-British rebellion.  While a very low-budget film, the scope is large and lavishly produced.  The performances are very powerful and I am very surprised that the pic didn't have a major theatrical release.  Unless you can speak native Irish, I recommend that you use the English subtitles so that you can follow the film a bit better.  I recommend that for most Brit pics though too.  DVD extras are light, but the commentary by director Ken Loach and historical advisor Professor Donal O'Driscoll sheds much light on the subject matter.
